INTRO TO NATURAL DYEING                                                                        


Presented in conjunction with collective member Liz DeCoste’s solo exhibition Transfigurations, Intro to Natural Dyeing was held at SPACEMAKER II in July 2023. 

Facilitated by Liz DeCoste, participants learned steam bundle dyeing processes using found and salvaged plant matter, and experimented with Japanese flower pounding ( “tataki-zome”) to create naturally dyed handkerchiefs. 

All materials were provided for a pay-what-you-can price, and guests went home with naturally dyed materials and an informational zine detailing the steam bundle process.
