About Us

Carrier Bag Collective is a Toronto-based collective of artists comprised of recent OCAD University alumni. Named after Ursula K. Le Guin’s “Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction”, we explore collection methodologies and  practices in a variety of mediums. Emphasizing community engaged creation and accessibility to arts knowledge, Carrier Bag Collective holds free public workshops, shows, and other initiatives to maintain community amongst early-career artists in Toronto. Carrier Bag Collective acknowledges that Toronto is on the territory of the Anishinabeg, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We believe in #LandBack, which is the reinstating of Indigenous jurisdiction over their traditional land. To learn more about the Land Back movement click here.
